Folacin/Folic Acid



Folic acid is important for the maturation of red blood cells. It is also essential for the baby’s spinal cord development in the first 3 months of pregnancy. So, folic acid is very popular during pregnancy period that to prevent spina bifida.

Obviously, low folic acid level during pregnant will cause spina bifida in newborns. For adults, it can leads to megaloblastic anemia and tropical sprue.
